Curriculum overview:
- Reading: Students in fourth grade need to comprehend fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama. They read for literacy experience and to gain information. **Please have you child read 30 - 40 minutes daily.***
- Writing: Our major focus for writing in fourth grade is the narrative, both personal and imaginative. Students will learn to implement proper conventions in their writing to make it easy for their readers to understand the written product. They will also learn strategies for focusing in on a small moment in time.
- Math: Fourth grade students learn about numbers and operations, measurement, geometry, data analysis, probability, and algebra computations. Since we have a heavy focus on multiplication and division, it is essential that your child come to fourth grade with the basic multiplication facts memorized.
- Science: Fourth grade science consists of animals and adaptations, electricity and magnetism, rocks and minerals, nutrition, and personal safety. Our science emphasis is on inquiry.
- Social Studies: Fourth graders learn all about North Carolina, including its land and regions, climate, resources, symbols, government, and much more!
