Welcome to our first PTA meeting for the year. Tonight I will read my comments to assist
the translator for communication with our Spanish speaking parents.
Last year was a great year for Donna Lee Loflin students. Our students had some of the
best test scores in the district with approximately 90% making high or medium growth.
Our student and faculty attendance was excellent. We met our goal for recruiting 75
volunteers and our teachers brought in over $20,000.00 of grant money for our school.
With your help, we can once again make this a great year for the students. We are a small
school in number, and because of that we have a greater opportunity to build strong
relationships within our school community than many schools. Also, because we are a
small school in number, we sometimes have to step up to the plate as they say in
baseball, and do a little bit more. We are a school of diversity and thanks to that diversity;
I believe that our children will be more prepared for success in the real world which is
rich with diversity.
The Donna Lee Loflin mascot is the Lion. We begin each day by saying, “The Pride begins
here!” I invite you to share your diverse gifts and strengths to keep the Pride strong at
Donna Lee Loflin. As parents, you will always be your child’s first and most important
teacher. As your child’s principal, I promise to always put children first when I make
decisions for our school. As your child’s principal, I ask that you support the faculty and
staff of Donna Lee Loflin as we strive to be the educators your child deserves. Working
together we can provide our children a world class education! At this time, I would like
for the faculty and staff of Donna Lee Lofin to please stand. Please give these incredible
people a round of applause to show your support!
We have guests here from the Central Office and I would like to introduce them at this
time. We have Carla Freemyer, Director of Public Information and School Board members
Linda Cranford and Jane Redding with us tonight. I appreciate their support for Donna Lee
Loflin!
At the completion of their portion of the program, teachers will be dismissed to go to
their classrooms. I will ask parents and guest to wait until I give the signal for their
dismissal as a courtesy for our teachers.
At this time, our PTA President will speak to you about goals for the year and introduce
our PTA officers.
